With summer just around the corner, it's time to go swimsuit shopping. Before you start filling your cart with $20 Zaful swimsuits, take a look at this sustainable swimsuit brand. Ocean Zen is a sustainable swimsuit brand founded by Steph Gabriel in the Caribbean. Steph is an ocean conservationist with a passion for marine life. In 2014, she launched a swimsuit brand that is made from sustainable fabrics that regenerate abandoned fishing nets and plastics bottles from the ocean. Ocean Zen's mission is to "inspire, influence and empower our community of women to become conscious consumers and passionate about our ocean life". Ocean Zen offers a variety of styles in swimsuits. The price is a titch expensive but consumers need to keep in mind they are paying for 100% sustainable fabric. The fabric is made of nylon waste from recycled plastic bottles and fish nets recovered from the ocean. This saves energy and resources by not making new swimsuit materials. Their mission is to create a clean ocean. The ocean is under severe threat and there needs to be a change in the way we treat it. Ocean Zen's missions is to raise awareness on the conditions of oceans today and to lead a change in hopes that other brands adopt more sustainable practices and values.
Below are some of the swimsuits available on Ocean Zen's website!
